Kaijudo Rise of the Duel Masters Viewing Party

Attention all moms, there is a new show on The Hub called Kaijudo Rise of the Duel Masters! The show premiered Saturday June 2nd at 8pm EST and our house was watching. (To watch a sneak peak, see the video below.)

Series Description: "Kaijudo: Rise of the Duel Masters" is an animated action-fantasy series that follows the adventures of a young hero, Ray, who possesses the rare ability to befriend and duel alongside fantastical creatures from a parallel dimension. Evil forces would have these creatures tamed and enslaved, so Ray and his two best friends must join the ranks of the mysterious Duel Masters to ensure the survival of both races before it's too late.
The kids were excited about the new show and so was I. I mean there is only so much Adventure Time and Regular Show a mom can take before she slowly goes insane. The only thing I didn't care for was the 8pm time slot the show was in. It's way to close to bedtime and since I have two hyperactive kids, I try to stay clear of shows that will get them amped up.

During the show, the first thing that stuck me was the colors on the monsters. They were bright and vibrant. The next thing I noticed was a slight similarity to Pokemon. I say slight because both cartoons use monsters to duel/battle.

Pokemon I would say is for the younger crowd or even those who are into anime and Kaijudo I would say is geared for boys between the ages of 9-12. It's not really a girly show even though some girls might enjoy it. I also wouldn't necessarily let a younger child watch the show since there are fights and I think the younger kids would get more out of watching educational shows but that's my opinion.

Another thing I noticed during the show is that the writers are really trying to bring awareness to bullying. It's somewhat subtle but it's there. I think it's a wonderful idea because it's important to teach our kids that not everyone looks, acts, dresses, etc. the same. Just think if we all looked and acted the same. How boring would this world be?

The bottom line is that the kids and even I enjoyed the show!

Disclosure: We received a party kit from MommyParties in return for our honest opinion! The kit included: 1DVD Screener, 1 Kaijudo Rise of the Duel Masters Media Disc, 1 Kaijudo Rise of the Duel Masters Poster, 10 Kaijudo Rise of the Duel Masters branded martial arts headbands
